Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to know Him. As surely as the sun rises, the LORD will appear. He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.
Hosea 6:3
When did God last appear to you?
The question can seem a bit daunting, if not overly forward and personal. But whether you have a close relationship with Christ or have only just begun to grow curious about Him, As Surely As the Sun is a journal that believes that God extends his beauty and grace to everyone. From spring to winter to spring again, His presence can be found in the ecstasy of nature, or in those small miracles we can't explain, or in the kind community of others.
And yes, we believe that God can be found in seasons of darkness as well. In the midst of pain and suffering, our vision is often clouded. It becomes difficult to see God, let alone press on to know Him better. And yet, as surely as the sun, He is there. So, here's that ambiguous question again: When did God last appear to you?
Let's acknowledge the Lord. With poetry, essays, flash fiction, visual art, and photography, As Surely As the Sun seeks to testify to Christ's presence through rain and shine, peace and turmoil, strength and fragility. And so, as Christ opens His heart and beckons to everyone: Come as you are. We'll meet you there.
